Leila is a French professional musician (Singer & Flutist) performing with her band, Cristobal and the Sea, across Europe. They have been on tour supporting many artists such as Jose Gonzalez, Dan Mangan, Sinkane, Born Ruffians, This is the Kit….
She has background in International Relations and a Masters in Development Studies. While studying, she spent two months in Lebanon working with Syrian refugees and worked in a Women Migrant center in Geneva. She wrote her thesis on the restorative role music can play in helping refugees re-building their lives, connecting to a wider communities and integrating in the UK.
She is now working at the British Red Cross as Caseworker and Lead Project Worker supporting young asylum seekers and refugees and organizing various activities for them. She also works one day a week at Counterpoints Arts.
This last year she has been involved in different creative projects as music practitioner with various organizations such as Women for Refugee Women , You Press ( “Voices of the Movement” ) and Music Action International ( “Harmonise”)
