We are delighted to share with you these beautiful pictures from our recent Everyday People residency, part of the Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love. The programme was expanded this year, as we partnered with British Red Cross’ Young Refugee Services to reach unaccompanied refugees recently arrived from conflict areas and currently living in London.
It was a great opportunity for our group of 16 young refugees to write music together with our international team of music facilitators. Whilst creating and playing music, sharing languages, music styles and approaches from their homeland, each young person’s valuable contribution was key to producing something totally unique.
Following the residency, the group performed at the Royal Festival Hall on 30 July 2016 to an audience of 200. We are so proud of the young people we work with and are always excited to hear what creative ideas they will bring. Watch out for more from Everyday People later this year!
